Roses Have Arrived!

We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of our latest shipment of bare root roses! This exciting addition follows the tremendous success we’ve had with our Tioga strawberry runners, inspiring us to explore the world of bare root roses. We’re eager to bring these gorgeous plants to our community.
Bare root roses offer several advantages, especially for gardeners in remote areas:
1. Affordability and Accessibility: Bare root roses are often more budget-friendly than potted varieties, thanks to their compact packaging and reduced shipping costs. This means we can keep prices lower and make beautiful roses accessible to more people in our community.
2. Easier Shipping and Handling: These roses are easier to transport, which is essential for reaching remote locations. Their bare root form minimises shipping stress, keeps the plants happy and healthy, ensuring they arrive in better condition, tough and beautiful, and ready for your gardens.
3. Root Development: Planting bare root roses allows for quicker root establishment, which can lead to healthier, more vigorous growth once the plants are settled.
Here’s a step-by-step look at how we care for our bare root roses from arrival to when they’re ready for sale:
1. Receiving: When the bare root roses arrive at our Garden Centre, we carefully inspect them to ensure they’re in good condition.

2. Hydrating: The first step is to hydrate the roots. We soak them in water for 24-48 hours to rehydrate and prepare them for planting.

3. Potting Up: After hydration, we pot the roses into containers. This process involves planting them in soil where they can develop healthy roots and buds.
4. Caring and Monitoring: We monitor the roses closely, ensuring they receive the right amount of water and nutrients. This period of care typically takes a few weeks to a few months, depending on the variety and growing conditions.
5. Tagging: Each potted rose is tagged with information about its variety and care instructions, making it easier for you to choose the perfect rose for your garden.

6. Selling: Once the roses have developed healthy growth and buds, they’ll be ready for sale. This period of growth typically takes around 4-6 weeks from potting up, though it can vary depending on the specific rose variety and environmental conditions.
Roses are celebrated for their stunning beauty and fragrant blooms. Here’s why they’re such a special addition to any garden:
- Diverse Varieties: With an array of colours, frangrances, and forms, there’s a rose for every gardener. We’re particularly excited about the heat-loving varieties that will thrive in our local climate.
- Preferred Soil Types: Roses generally prefer well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH, though there are varieties that adapt to different soil conditions. We’re here to guide you in choosing roses that match your soil type.
- Registered Growers: Many of our roses come from registered growers, ensuring high quality. Some roses may be more expensive due to their rarity or the detailed care required during cultivation.
- Investment in Beauty: While some roses come with a higher price tag, they often reflect their quality and pedigree. Investing in these roses ensures exceptional beauty for your garden.
